Eastwood claims politcal correctness ruined ethnic jokes

Tough guy and film legend Clint Eastwood says that the runaway political correctness has ruined the ability to tell harmless ethnic jokes:
“People have lost their sense of humour. In former times we constantly made jokes about different races. You can only tell them today with one hand over your mouth or you will be insulted as a racist. I find that ridiculous. In those earlier days every friendly clique had a ‘Sam the Jew’ or ‘Jose the Mexican’ – but we didn’t think anything of it or have a racist thought. It was just normal that we made jokes based on our nationality or ethnicity. That was never a problem. I don’t want to be politically correct. We’re all spending too much time and energy trying to be politically correct about everything,”
I wonder if he would be saying such crazy talk if he were in his early forties and still trying to make a career?
In other news Dean Grose, the seemingly racist mayor of Los Alamitos, CA has resigned for crude ethnic humor:
The mayor of a small Southern California city says he will resign after being criticized for sharing an e-mail picture depicting the White House lawn planted with watermelons under the title “No Easter egg hunt this year.”
Maybe these “friendly cliques” are not so harmless any more.

Given the ethnic comments in Eastwood’s latest movie, Gran Torino, I’d say he puts his money where his mouth is. I heard it was his greatest movie every. Whoever said that has never seen any of his other movies because Gran Torino was horrible. He was channeling Karl Childers.
Yeah I just watched The Outlaw Josey Wales the other night and I’m thinking that one, if not the best, is one of my favs.
